CGH Crypto Ecosystem Atlas: 1,886 Projects Graded Across 118 Chains

The Atlas rates every crypto project from AAA+ to F using 10 data sources. Here's how the rating system works, what makes it different from every other crypto tracker, and why 62.7% of projects grade D or F.

The crypto market has over 20,000 tokens. CoinMarketCap lists roughly 10,000. CoinGecko tracks about 15,000. But how many of those are actually worth your time? How many have real on-chain activity, genuine liquidity, and transparent fundamentals?

That's the question we built the CGH Crypto Ecosystem Atlas to answer. The Atlas is a free, searchable database of 1,886 crypto projects across 118 blockchains, each graded on an A-F scale using real metrics from 10 public data sources. No paywall. No signup. No opinions dressed up as analysis.

Here's everything you need to know about how it works, what makes it different, and why the grade distribution tells a truth most crypto platforms won't.

What Is the CGH Crypto Ecosystem Atlas?

The Atlas is two things in one: a searchable project explorer and a transparent rating system. You can filter by blockchain (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, 115 others), sector (DeFi, Infrastructure, Gaming, AI, Privacy, and 13 more), origin, and grade. Click any project to open a full detail dashboard with market data, on-chain metrics, source links, and the complete rating breakdown.

Every project receives a letter grade from AAA+ (Industry Defining) down to F (Avoid / Dead / Abandoned). The grades are not editorial opinions — they are computed from real metrics pulled from 10 free, public APIs.

The 10 Data Sources

Every rating is backed by real data. These are the sources we pull from, all free and public:

  • CoinGecko — Market cap, volume, supply, price for all 1,886 projects
  • DefiLlama TVL — Total value locked, fees, revenue, chain deployments for 183 protocols
  • DefiLlama DEX Volume — Live 24-hour DEX trading volume for 44 matched protocols (newest source)
  • Dune Analytics — Active addresses and transaction counts across 14 chains
  • DexScreener — DEX liquidity, trading volume, and transaction counts
  • CoinPaprika — Additional market cap and volume data for smaller projects
  • CoinLore — Market data for long-tail projects
  • Coinbase — Exchange price verification
  • CryptoRank — Tokenomics, volatility, and category data
  • Binance.US — Exchange volume and trade counts

Each project's detail page shows exactly which sources contributed to its rating, with direct links to the underlying data. You can verify every number yourself.

How the Rating System Works

Every project receives two composite scores that are averaged together for the overall grade.

Ecosystem Importance Score (EIS) — 50% of Overall

EIS measures how essential a project is to its blockchain ecosystem. It has 9 weighted components:

  • Ecosystem Dependency — 20%
  • User Adoption — 15%
  • Financial Usage — 15%
  • Liquidity Importance — 10%
  • Developer Integration — 10%
  • Infrastructure Importance — 10%
  • Ecosystem Reach — 10%
  • Revenue & Community — 10%

Investment Quality Score (IQS) — 50% of Overall

IQS evaluates the project's fundamentals as an investment. It has 10 weighted components:

  • Leadership & Team — 15%
  • Development Activity — 15%
  • Product-Market Fit — 10%
  • Tokenomics — 10%
  • Financial Strength — 10%
  • Competitive Position — 10%
  • Ecosystem Growth — 10%
  • Security & Reliability — 10%
  • Regulatory Position — 5%
  • Innovation — 5%

Bonuses and Penalties

On top of the base IQS, projects can earn bonuses (capped at +10 total) for real on-chain activity:

  • TVL bonus: +3 for $10M+, +4 for $100M+
  • Fees bonus: +2 for protocols generating fee revenue
  • Market cap rank bonus: +2 (top 500), +4 (top 100), +5 (top 10)
  • Multi-chain bonus: +2 for deployment on 3+ chains
  • Audit bonus: +1 for verified security audits
  • Chain rank bonus: +3 for projects on top-5 chains by activity
  • DEX volume bonus: +1 ($1M+/24h), +2 ($10M+/24h), +3 ($100M+/24h)

Penalties are applied for centralization risk, low liquidity, and missing security audits. The overall score is clamped to a 0-100 range and mapped to the letter grade.

The Grade Scale

GradeScore RangeMeaning
AAA+97-100Industry Defining
AAA93-96Category Leader
AA89-92Elite
A85-88Strong
B+80-84Above Average
B75-79Solid
C+70-74Average
C65-69Below Average
D60-64High Risk
F< 60Avoid / Dead / Abandoned

The DEX Volume Integration (New)

The newest data source in the Atlas is live 24-hour DEX trading volume from DefiLlama. This pulls real trading volume data for 44 matched DEX protocols — including Curve Finance ($104M/24h), PancakeSwap ($80M/24h), Hyperliquid ($79M/24h), and Raydium ($98M/24h).

This is data no other crypto rating system integrates. Traditional exchange volume can be inflated by wash trading. DEX volume reflects actual on-chain swaps — real liquidity, real usage. Projects with significant DEX volume receive a direct bonus to their financial usage and liquidity importance scores.

Each project with DEX volume data now shows a dedicated "DEX Volume 24h" stat card in the detail modal, highlighted in green, with the "DEX-enhanced" tag on the review line.

The Grade Distribution Tells the Truth

Here's what the distribution of 1,885 ratings looks like:

GradeProjects% of Total
AAA+10.05%
AAA10.05%
AA160.8%
A160.8%
B+50.3%
B542.9%
C+804.2%
C1457.7%
D38320.3%
F1,18462.7%

62.7% of all rated projects grade D or F. That's not a bug. That's the reality of crypto.

The vast majority of tokens have little to no on-chain activity, minimal liquidity, no audited code, and no meaningful development. They exist on paper — on a blockchain somewhere — but they are not alive in any practical sense. The Atlas reflects this honestly rather than giving everything a participation trophy.

Only 2 projects (0.1%) earn AAA or higher. That's as it should be. Industry-defining projects are rare by definition.

How CGH Compares to Other Crypto Raters

Rating systems exist. Here's how the Atlas stacks up:

PlatformProjectsGradesFree?Key Difference
CGH Atlas1,886AAA+ to FYes10 sources, DEX volume, full transparency
Hindenrank711A to FYesDeFi only; risk-focused
Weiss Ratings1,200A to EPaidEstablished brand; opaque methodology
Evai987AAA to DPaidInstitutional; automated model only
TokenInsight~500+AAA to FPartialExchange-embedded; top coins only
CER.live2,222Security scoresYesSecurity audits only
CryptoScores7,000+6 pillarsPaidBroad but paid; no free explorer

Three things make the Atlas different:

  1. Scale — 1,886 projects is more than Hindenrank (711) and Evai (987), and free where Weiss (1,200) and CryptoScores charge.
  2. All sectors, not just DeFi — Hindenrank covers DeFi protocols only. CGH covers 18 sectors across 118 chains.
  3. Transparency — The full methodology is published. Every source link is visible on every project. Weiss says "thousands of data points" but doesn't show the math. We show all of it.

Why This Matters

Most crypto platforms are either data aggregators (CoinMarketCap, CoinGecko) or opinion-based rating lists (Weiss, Evai). The first group gives you numbers without context. The second gives you grades without showing the work.

The Atlas bridges that gap. It takes the raw data from aggregators, runs it through a published, transparent scoring formula, and produces grades that anyone can verify. If a project gets a D, you can see exactly why — which data sources contributed, which components scored low, what bonuses it did or didn't receive.

That matters because crypto is full of projects that look good on the surface but have no real activity underneath. A token can have a billion-dollar market cap and zero on-chain transactions. The Atlas catches that.

Using the Atlas

The Atlas is free to use at cryptogainhub.com/atlas. No signup required. Here's what you can do:

  • Search — Find any project by name or symbol across 1,886 entries
  • Filter — Narrow by chain, sector, origin, or grade
  • Explore — Click any project for full market data, rating breakdown, and source links
  • Compare — Use the grade scale to benchmark projects against each other
  • Verify — Every rating links to its source data — check the numbers yourself

Projects with DEX volume data show a green "DEX Volume 24h" stat card in their detail modal. The "DEX-enhanced" tag appears on the review line for these projects.

What's Next

The Atlas is a living tool. Data refreshes regularly as new on-chain metrics become available. We are continuously evaluating additional free data sources to strengthen the ratings. The methodology evolves as we learn more about what signals actually matter.

The goal is simple: give crypto traders and investors a tool that tells the truth about projects, backed by real data, available to everyone for free.
